Celebrating 25 years of photography coverage, Photo District News has scheduled its PhotoPlus Expo 2005 for Oct. 20-22 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. The event will encompass more than 100 photography and design seminars and hands-on workshops in 11 different tracks. The International Imaging Industry Association has announced the program for its Leadership Conference, which will take place Nov. 2-4 at L’Auberge Del Mar in San Diego. Plan Ahead

The North American Nature Photography Association has planned its 12th Annual Summit and Trade Show for Feb. 9-12, 2006, in Denver. A number of field trips to places such as the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program’s Environmental Learning Center, Red Rocks Park, Roxborough State Park and Rocky Mountain National Park are being offered before and after the summit. The program also will feature keynote addresses from Patricio Robles-Gil, Jack Dykinga, John Fielder, Wendy Shattil and Bob Rozinski, Daniel Cox, Tim Gallagher and Bobby Ray Harrison. FotoFest International has scheduled its Eleventh International Biennial of Photography and Photo-Related Art for Mar. 10-Apr. 23, 2006, in Houston. The city-wide event will feature more than 120 exhibitions of photographic works in museums and nontraditional gallery spaces throughout Houston. FotoFest’s portfolio review program is Mar. 10-23, artist workshops are Mar. 14 and 19, the fine print auction is Mar. 14, and film and video programs run in late March and early April. The American Society of Picture Professionals has scheduled its Fourth Education Conference in San Francisco, Mar. 23-26, 2006, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Union Square. The event will feature educational seminars and presentations on current topics, including Adobe CS2 and Adobe Stock Photo, RAW capture workflow, news photography, style trends and demographics, new licensing models and bundled rights, and digital asset management. The Society for Photographic Education’s 43nd National Conference will take place Mar. 23-26, 2006, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers in Chicago. Speakers include Henry Jenkins, director of the Comparative Media Studies Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Carl Toth, artist-in-residence and photography department head at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Among the workshops offered will be the Adobe Workshop and Academic Practicum Workshops. Nate Larson will be conducting this year’s portfolio reviews. Contests/Scholarships

The 2005 International Fine Art Photography Exhibition, sponsored by the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colo., is accepting entries from amateurs and professionals in traditional, digital and mixed-media processes, to be juried from slides or CDs. The Best in Show winner will receive $2,000 and be featured on the cover of the December issue of the “ShowCase” insert in CameraArts magazine. Other honors include a Solo Show Award and a Director’s Award. Selected works by 10 to 15 of the artists will be included in “ShowCase,” the 2005 Exhibitors’ Collection, and a CD distributed annually to museums, galleries and collectors.
