Image Title: The Log Soldiers (diptych)
Category: Environmental Issues

Location: Western Washington
Description: I wanted to make an environmental image that was different than the usual "before and after" deforestation scene. I located the brand new trucks and chose the swing-lens format to capture their boldness, and used a flat panoramic format for the logs to get a 'filled frame" look. I chose a viewpoint that allowed one tiny treetop to remain visible, to suggest that it was the last tree left standing.

David is a widely published photographer, illustrator and designer. His photographic images reflect his love for the natural world and it's perfection as unquestionable art. He enjoys capturing both the beauty and the tragedy of the places of his travels, letting the viewer's own emotions interpret each image's meaning. Combining traditional and alternative processes, his prints are in private and corporate collections, and published globally in all media. He also leads photography workshops in Santa Fe and in the Northwest.
