Description: As a photojournalist, you go to many extremes for an image. It's worth every inconvenience (putting up with traffic, police harassment and even an irate homeowner to name a few) to capture that one frame. After shooting basic fire images (smoke, slurry bombers), I found a spot on the side of the mountain overlooking Grouse Mountain near Bailey, Colorado and waited through the night. Early morning winds came in from the west and hundreds of hot spots turned an orange glow to create this image. I feel that fire environment is a way for the earth to be reborn. I want this image to convey that fire is not all bad; it's a beautiful recreation of this planet.
