Description: The village of Carmelo lies on the Pacific
Ocean, at the edge of an old coconut plantation. Government land
reform has shut down many plantations and eliminated the many
jobs they once provided. However, many people in Carmelo still
fish with nets or comb the tide pools at low tide to supplement
their income.
