Description: When I came across this large oak tree (I was told by one of the locals that it was the oldest oak tree in America), it had this singular, long branch that stretched out about 50 feet or so. I'd never seen a natural form that was so impressive. I had to take a picture of it.

Drawn to the Surrealist movement at an early age, Lloyd Kimeldorf developed a visual curiosity, which still influences his way of seeing. While taking classes in filmmaking, he became intrigued with his current medium, still photography. Lloyd creates and captures singular frames, each describing a fully formed moment within the story, explicit, but leaving the rest up to the viewer to decide.

His body of work consists of four groups or collections: landscapes, portraits, nudes, and concept pieces. Lloyd's work is sometimes surreal or comical, and often dramatic, but always inspired.

In 1999, Lloyd's image Office Goddess was chosen for a national juried competition at the Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle, WA. In 2001, the Portland Art Museum selected his photograph, The Naked Poet, a unique portrait of famed writer Walt Curtis, for its permanent collection.

Lloyd Kimeldorf's work is currently available at the Fine Art Gallery, Seaside, Ore. (503-738-0328), Artfx Gallery, Seattle Wash. (206-826-2346), and Mark Woolley Gallery, Portland, Ore. (503-224-5475).
