Description: I had just come from the Everglades with my folks-in-law (my support team), where I spent time shooting wading birds, and I was now searching for pelicans. We had just exited the Tamiami Highway approaching the western shores of Florida where we stopped for an ice cream cone. I happened to ask the clerk if she knew where I could find pelicans in the area. She mentioned the docks at Chokoloskee. The pelicans were there, and fairly approachable, giving me ample time to shoot through about three rolls of film. The birds were cooperative and I got several preening shots. This one turned out to be the best of the lot.

I am a writer and photographer whose focus is on subjects ranging from landscapes to seascapes, wildlife to wild flowers. My goal is to capture a singular moment in time, to produce an image that attracts and holds the attention of the viewer and to instill an appreciation for our planet and its diversity.

My business is called Image Northwest and is located in Olympia, Washington. Although I focus on the Pacific Northwest for most of my work, I travel to many other locations in search of the "perfect" picture. My 2003 schedule for exhibiting and selling fine art prints is available on my web site.
