It also shows that no matter where you are, you are always in the natural world and the opportunity to see something amazing always exists. I found this weasel in a small setting that was between a parking lot, a busy road, and a full campground. There were people and cars all around. It reminds me that each and every day, no matter where we are, we coexist with other creatures - sometimes we see them, sometimes we don't. I was fortunate in this case to not only see this weasel but to also capture a wonderful portrait of it.     I have been a naturalist my entire life. As a child I spent every waking hour exploring my beloved Rocky Mountains where I grew up. Trees were my friends, conversations were had with bubbling brooks, and rocks were used as sofas. My love for the outdoors has not waned as an adult. I spend countless hours exploring the outdoors - sometimes it will be a small refuge in the middle of the city - other times I will drive for miles and go on long hikes into the wilderness. All the while, I carry my camera so that I may capture the beauty that I see. Photography is a way for me to share the thrill I get every time I see an owl, a butterfly, or a magenta sky. If viewers of my images feel a fraction of my excitement and awe, then I have succeeded.
